5 food tours must do in Sardinia Italy

Sardinia Cooking Class: Fresh Handmade Pasta

This is an experience for animal lovers in a familiar environment. Located near Cagliari, Sardinia’s capital city, Sinnai is a small town where you can still see the typical Campidanese-style houses, with their mud-brick walls and wooden roofs, in its historic centre.

One of these houses is where a friendly couple will teach you how to make two different types of local traditional pasta: malloreddus (also known as Sardinian gnocchi) and culurgiones (ravioli closed in a peculiar way). Later, we will cook the pasta and eat together, with a glass of lovely local wine and other typical products.

Alghero: Wine and Olive Oil Tasting at a Local Farm

On arrival, you'll be directed to your table in the tasting room by your guide. Your table will already be set with 5 different glasses and a small tray containing your appetizers to pair with the wines during the guided tasting.

Your guide will start by sharing information about the farm history, the local area, and the culture, followed by the guided tasting of each wine. You'll learn about the variety of grapes, perfume, taste, and suggested food pairings for each wine.

The experience ends with a proof of a top quality extra-virgin olive oil prepared by traditional cold pressing techniques and served with traditional bread. At the end you'll have the opportunity to purchase some of the products you've tried to take home with you.

After the tasting, take a nice walk through the vineyard on your own to take some pictures.

Wine Tour Sardinia

Join an unforgettable excursion to discover the wine and wineries of Cagliari, two important elements of the Sardinian identity since the first centuries of its history. The role of the ancient plant is deep-rooted in the culture of this land thanks to the wide range of grape varieties: Cannonau, Bovale, Carignano, Monica, Nuragus, Vermentino, Nasco, Vernaccia, Moscato, and Malvasia, to name a few.

This tour will allow you to live a first-hand experience immersed in the vineyards and the wineries of the area, where you will learn the peculiarities of the Sardinian wine grapes. The tour includes a visit to a traditional winery: surrounded by sweet hills and rural landscapes, you will discover the different production stages, the kinds of the grapes, the land and the people who dedicate their time to the grape growing with great passion.

The visit to the winery is only the first step. Next, taste local wines! You will be captivated by a friendly atmosphere and will taste 3 excellent wines paired with local food products.

Alghero: Sardinian Home-Cooking Class and 4-Course Meal

Learn to prepare typical Sardinian dishes during this home-cooking class. Make your way to a beautiful farmhouse in the countryside outside Alghero, where you’ll be welcomed by your friendly hosts. Immerse yourself in regional food culture as you’re introduced to gourmet products and locally-grown ingredients.

Roll up your sleeves and start cooking, learning to make dishes like bruschetta and vegetable fritters. After the first course of gnocchi with lamb ragu, prepare a plate of scallops and roasted potatoes. Finally, whip up something to satisfy your sweet tooth with a soft cheese-based dessert flavored with a hint of orange.

At the end of the class, gather around the table to feast on the fruits of your labor. Wash every bite down with fine Sardinian wines. Bring your meal and the experience to a close with a tasting of homemade mirto, a liqueur flavored with myrtle, and tangy limoncello.
